Claire and Edward are 8 months old. I’m cleaning out their closet this week of everything they’ve outgrown, and it’s amazing. We have graduated from infant gear like swings, swaddle blankets, tiny bottles, extra burp cloths, and tiny onesies and pjs. They’re already almost too big for our double Snap-n-Go stroller. The second baby’s feet can’t fit under the first baby’s carseat any more. Since I use it as my cart, I’m not sure how I will grocery shop without it.
They’ve moved on to taking walks in a jogging stroller and sitting in high chairs for family meals. With the help of baby-led weaning, they like to eat almost everything I put in their trays. I’ve tried to bathe them together in the tub without the infant tub, and it was really cute to see them splash and laugh together. I think we’ll wait another month to repeat that adventure.
Claire is crawling everywhere, and she’s fast. She’s pulling up on furniture (or me!) (or Edward!!) and cruising around with a few side-steps. She loves to clap, and she’s starting to use sign language to communicate. All of her signs look like clapping so far, but I usually know what she means based on the context. It’s tricky to tell the difference between “more” and “all done” at meals. Edward is solidly sitting up, and he dances by bobbing his torso and head when he hears fun music. He also likes to give hugs. They both love to babble and make raspberry noises.
Patrick is back in school, and we’re settling into a nice routine. The twins take great naps. I’m *so grateful* that they are better nappers than I expected. In fact, some days I have to wake them up from their second nap to pick up their big brother from school. My plan is to do workout videos during the morning 2-hour nap, but it’s hasn’t worked out yet. Maybe tomorrow?
They are beautiful — love to see them growing up!
